Project Investigator(s): Charles Park, Lecturer, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Project Description
Using video-recorded answer keys for feedback is a novel idea in the pharmacy practice education setting at UBC. This project will look at the use of the video-recorded answer key and if the students find the video answer keys more useful than traditional paper-based answer keys when studying for exams.
Research Questions
This research project aims to determine the use of video-recorded answer keys and its effectiveness on student learning of pharmacy materials in the integration activities of the Introduction of Infectious Diseases Module during UBC’s 1st-year entry-to-practice Doctor of Pharmacy class.
Impact on teaching and learning at UBC
The results will inform me on how to proceed with other portions of the pharmacy curriculum. If successful, I will make sure to include this type of feedback and learning into all activities that I do and provide for pharmacy students. I hope that if I do start this, I will be able to demonstrate to fellow faculty members how to do this and how it is successful in the passing of knowledge to students. I will be able to sustain this over the years by having a bank of questions and videos for use throughout the module that I will be involved in. If I demonstrate a successful project, I would be able to work with various faculty members and IT support to scale this to a larger project in the faculty and through other faculties.
