October 22-23, 2020: Celebrate SoTL

We are excited to announce that the third annual UBC Celebrate SoTL event will be held virtually this year, with events (e-poster and interactive session) spread across two days: October 22-23. This will allow SoTL practitioners across UBC to share their stories from practice, engage in dialogue around teaching and learning topics, and network with colleagues across disciplines. The event also helps potential and existing SoTL grant holders become familiar with SoTL work that is taking place at UBC.  Read about the 2019 event. We hope that you will register for the e-poster session and interactive discussion panel.

November 10, 2020: Getting your SoTL Work Published

Join us for an interactive session on public dissemination of your Scholarship pf Teaching and Learning (SoTL) project. We will discuss different approaches to writing SoTL and invite participants to reflect on their motivations for writing about teaching and learning in higher education as a pathway to identifying relevant publication outlets. We will share guiding principles for writing in some of the most common SoTL genres: empirical research articles, reflective essays and conference presentations. We will also share suggestions to navigate the process of submitting a manuscript for publication in journals. This session is intended for those who have conducted a SoTL investigation and are looking to share it broadly. Register here.

Communities of Practice – Ongoing

The SoTL Community of Practice (CoP) launched in spring 2013 as a way to engage and connect those interested in taking a scholarly approach to teaching and learning at UBC. The SoTL Community of Practice provides a venue for those engaging in SoTL across all academic disciplines to share their work, learn from the approaches of others, and engage with current SoTL research. For more information visit the SoTL CoP page on the CTLT website.
