PhD student, Human Development, Learning and Culture
Abby’s research focuses on social and emotional learning (SEL), supporting first and second-generation immigrant children and their families, and exploring the experiences of the culturally diverse community in early education. Having worked in the field of education for over 10 years, Abby is committed to bridge the knowledge gap surrounding culturally diverse populations and help create more equitable and supportive educational environments. Through her research, she is hoping to contribute to practice and policy that integrates diverse cultural perspectives, ensuring that children from all backgrounds receive an education that acknowledges and values their cultural identities. Abby completed her B.A. in Psychology and Family Studies and M.A. in Early Childhood Education at UBC.
