Experience in Simulation Lab compared to Simulation Clinic in Restorative Dentistry Teaching: did this transition affect students’ performance?

Project Lead: Luana Carvalho, Dentistry

Project description

This project aims to assess the impact of transitioning from clinic simulation to the simulation lab on students’ and instructors’ experiences in Restorative Dentistry preclinical settings. Through surveys and evaluations of clinical outcomes, we seek to understand how this shift may influence students’ performance, self-assessment skills, ergonomics, and infection control protocol implementation.

Research questions

  1. How do students’ perceptions of learning experiences differ between the Simulation Clinic and the Simulation Lab in Restorative Dentistry preclinical settings?
  2. In what ways do instructors’ teaching experiences vary between the Simulation Clinic and the Simulation Lab within the context of Restorative Dentistry preclinical instruction?
  3. What is the impact of transitioning from the Clinic Simulation to the Simulation Lab on students’ clinical skill development in Restorative Dentistry?
