For this project we plan to use anonymized student data from your course (XYZ), to look at student decisions around and the impact of group writing projects.
Data Collection:
- Existing course data (e.g. work plan, final essay reflection, group writing assignment grades)
- A start-of-term, mid-term and end-of-term survey
- An interview session
What you need to do:
- Your regular course activities and assignments (g., group paper, peer feedback assessments) will not require any additional work
- Research components:
- You will be asked to complete 3 short online surveys at the start, middle and end of the term, outside of class time.
- Near the end of the term, you will be asked to contact the research specialist, [name], if you are interested in additionally participating an interview
Data Analysis:
- Course data will not be accessed until after final grades are submitted
- All data will be anonymized before it is analysed by a Centre for Teaching and Learning Technology Research Specialist who is not involved with this course, outside of this study
Risk:
- Your participation in the study will not affect your course experience or course grade in any way.
- None of the course instructors see the original responses of students who participate, all data is analyzed and then summarized by the Research Specialist.
